The XJ40 was a very important model for the company as it revitalised sales of the saloon range and helped achieve the highest annual sales to date in 1989 with over 50,000 units being sold. The XJ40 left production in 1994.

A complete change in format for Jaguar after the expansion of model ranges through the 1960s. The gamble was to produce a single model to meet the global market demands for a Jaguar saloon and this car was the XJ6 introduced in 1968.

Production years: 1959-1966
The 2.4 & 3.4 litre cars stayed in production until 1959 when a substantially modified car, known as the Mark 2 was announced, at which time the earlier cars became unofficially known as Mark 1s.
The Mark 2 benefited from a larger glass area and a wider rear track to improve handling and the looks. The new model was fitted with more chrome and a completely new interior layout. The Mark 2 was also available with a choice of three engine sizes, 2.4 litre, 3.4 litre and 3.8 litre.

The E-type Series 3 models came out in 1971 introducing the first new Jaguar engine since the XK in 1948. An advanced V12 engine of 5.3 litre capacity, all aluminium with two overhead camshafts, this was a tour de force of engineering supremacy and refinement, upstaging all sports car competition.

1968 Jaguar S-Type 3.8£0.00Out of stockProduction years: 1963 - 1968The compact saloon range was expanded in 1963 with the introduction of the S-type models. Based on the Mark 2 monocoque, revised at the rear to accommodate independent rear suspension and a larger boot area, the front wings were also modified along with the trim. Internally more plush than the Mark 2 with new seating and trim, the car was only available with the larger 3.4 litre or 3.8-litre engines. The S-type models were dropped from the range in 1968.
