The compact saloon range was expanded in 1963 with the introduction of the S-type models. Based on the Mark 2 monocoque, revised at the rear to accommodate independent rear suspension and a larger boot area, the front wings were also modified along with the trim. Internally more plush than the Mark 2 with new seating and trim, the car was only available with the larger 3.4 litre or 3.8-litre engines. The S-type models were dropped from the range in 1968.
