1963 Jaguar MK2 3.4 manual with overdrive (Needing Restoration)
To be sold as a restoration project or fully restored by us to its former glory.
She will definitely be a fantastic car once completed!
The chrome work is in good condition and the interior walnut wood dash is in good usable condition.
The upholstery is in excellent condition and we believe she had received attention at some point during her time in South Africa. Only minimal detailing is required to make the most of the interior as shown in some of the uploaded photos.
The vehicle is fitted with an immobiliser and has an uprated rack-and-pinion power-steering conversion. She also has a blue-tinted front windshield and a CD player securely fitted in the glove box.
We were told this car was sold directly to South Africa in 1963 where it spent much of its life. It has South African stickers on the windshield which support this. There is a letter from Jaguar 'Manufacturer's Statement of Build' dated 17-11-1989 stating chassis number and confirming it was built at Coventry on 18-10-1963.
There is also a stamp on the same letter recording the import into England on 01-07-1990 and it was registered to B.J.A Classic Autos Keighley. We were told that the car was dry-stored for some years after being imported back to England. This is why the vehicle has remained generally in good condition and a strong candidate for Restoration.
The first MOT certificate we have is from 1998. The most recent certificate we have showing the car was on the road is from 2005. We have a receipt for a new clutch that was installed in 1998 at (mileage 74774). It's done less than 3000 miles since the clutch was fitted. We have two valuation Certificates: Jaguar Drivers Club dated 1993 £16000 Mileage 66580 Cherished Car Underwriting Agency dated 1997 £14000 Mileage 76720
The vehicle needs the sills repaired where they meet the front wing quarter panel and other areas; however she has great potential as shown in the photos.
The last owner purchased the vehicle in July 2020 drove it briefly and since then it has been stored in a dry environment. According to our records the car was last started approximately 3 years ago and at that time the fuel pipe to the carburettors was leaking. The vehicle has not been started since.
